Peng Soon-Liu Ying won their semi-finals contest against Siwei-Yaqiong, the reigning Malaysian Open champions, 21-18, 21-16 in 36 minutes on Saturday (July 7) to secure their first appearance in the Indonesia Open final.
Peng Soon-Liu Ying have a chance to make a major career breakthrough when they take on the vastly experienced Indonesian pair of Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir in the final on Sunday.
Tontowi-Liliyana defeated fellow Indonesians Hafiz Faizal-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja 21-18, 21-8 in the other semi-finals.
Peng Soon-Liu Ying, however, have nothing to lose this time and are enjoying a good run of form after having eliminated top seeds and world No. 1 ranked Wang Yilyu-Huang Dongping 21-19, 21-14 in the quarter-finals on Friday.
Peng Soon-Liu Ying have already won two titles so far this year – the US Open last month and the Thailand Masters in January. They also finished runners-up in the Australian Open in May.
